The tension had lessened when the half elf arrived, heavy with child and a toddler in tow. Keu'deh gathered she was partnered to the guard when they greeted each other with a kiss. She and Aniphia began to talk, and in a very short span of time her voice had changed to a gentle teasing tone, making Yido object to something she'd said while Aniphia and the guard laughed. Keu'deh waited patiently, trying not to squint in the light and smiled at the toddler when she walked up to him, holding her arms up and bouncing on her toes, demanding something that was fairly obviously a command to pick her up.
So he did.
The conversation stopped as he smiled at the child, Yido and Aniphia both reaching up to stall the parent's movements. The half elf was frozen with her mouth hanging open, disbelief on her face, pointing at Kue'deh and the guard's whole body pressed aggressively against Yido's palm.
"Keu'deh... That's-" Yido started when the little girl reached out and patted Keu'deh's face, shouting a word and making an animal noise. He grinned and mimicked the noise, to the child's clear delight. She squealed laughter and the half elf relaxed, saying something that made Aniphia give him a soft smile and Yido and the guard lean together and laugh.
