Aniphia was yelling, angrily. A steady stream of what Keu'deh could only assume was profanity poured from her as Yido and the human glared at each other over their crossed weapons. She'd woken him up a couple hours earlier, telling him he needed to follow her quietly today, they were going to a town. This human had stopped them at the gate, pointing at Keu'deh's hood and talking lazily. It wasn't until Yido had responded that the human actually looked at them, and more specifically at Keu'deh. Aniphia had added something to Yido's words and Keu'deh had wished he knew the language they were using, right up to the point the human had drawn his sword and pointed it at Keu'deh's chest, making quick flicking motions. Yido had sighed and reached up to brush Keu'deh's hood back, his face full of concern.
The human had shouted something then, and lunged at Keu'deh, who froze in fear, blinded by the bright sun. Aniphia had jumped towards him at the same time, her quick hands yanking him out of the human's path and clutching him to her like a child, her angry shouting started then. He'd heard a clash and could just see over Aniphia's shoulders that Yido was snarling and protecting them both from the human's sword with his staff. Aniphia had dropped hers when she grabbed Keu'deh.
The human was saying something, his voice raised to be heard over Aniphia's unending tirade until he said something that made Aniphia stop dead and Yido pull away from the human, gasping out a single word in question. The human snarled an answer, trailing off when he saw Aniphia choke back a sob and bury her face in Keu'deh's hair, holding his to her even tighter and murmuring softly.
Yido had lowered his staff and had shifted his gaze to look behind him at Keu'deh and was saying something to the human in a low sad tone. The human pulled back and his voice changed, coloring with surprise and apology, his sword lowering the more Yido spoke. Keu'deh clung to Aniphia, trying to decide if he still wanted to know what they were saying and if he really wanted to know what would make Aniphia so sad.
