"Yeah... She was killed during a raid. I was taken and sold about a dozen times, ending up here with a dwarf..." He turned to watch Yido pick himself off the floor. "He died a couple of years ago." Aniphia was a bit taken back by the matter-of-fact tone he used to talk about his mother's death...

"That's terrible..." He shrugged as she accepted Yido's hand to get off the floor and turned to stand himself.

"Not really..." He thought for a moment. "Just... the way it is... Down there anyway... " He added the last bit as an afterthought.
